Little Green Kitchen (LGK) is a cooking studio and food consultancy – the brainchild of former lawyer Shalu Asnani to prove that vegetarian food is not boring! LGK offers hands-on cooking classes and bespoke menus through their food consulting, private dining and corporate cooking services.
The passionate foodie’s foray into the world of professional cooking was first born in Beijing at renowned cooking school, The Hutong, where through serendipity she found herself at the helm of their various vegetarian cooking classes. Inspired and excited, Shalu returned to Singapore in 2011 to set up LGK. Combining the secret family recipes gained from the kitchens of her childhood and her modern take on vegetarian cuisine, LGK offers mouthwatering and healthy vegetarian food spanning a variety of genres; from Asian street food to contemporary Western cuisine. Down-to-earth good food is her motto and eating clean her passion.
Fast forward a few years later, Shalu now holds a prestigious diploma from Cordon Vert, the U.K.’s leading vegetarian culinary school, a Certificate in Plant-Based Nutrition from the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies, has worked with celebrity chef Bobby Chinn and cooked for Dr. Jane Goodall! Her expertise in Asian cuisine has had her featured in the Lonely Planet 2012 and earned her a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor in 2017. Her corporate clients and partners include the Humane Society International, Pfizer and Kenwood.
In recent years, Shalu has developed areas of specialization within the niche of vegetarian cooking including menus that are gluten-free, vegan, low-carb, child-friendly and superfood-rich. Her goal is to continuously develop plant-based meals that are not only inherently appealing but able to cater to a wide range of dietary restrictions.
Apart from cooking, Shalu’s other passion is travelling which she combines with cooking by getting inspiration from exotic food around the world, and attending workshops overseas to broaden her repertoire. She constantly brings new ideas to her classes and showcases a variety of dishes that are incredibly tasty, so you can enjoy all the benefits of eating clean without compromising on taste!
