Avocado Oil
Avocado oil -so what’s the hype?? When I first tried it, I thought it was too good to be true. Lightly-flavoured fruity oil with a high smoke point, buttery texture, amazing health benefits and versatile enough to use the same oil for cooking and salads??? If like me, you feel the need to have at least five different oils in the pantry for different uses, then this is a godsend.
Chocolate-cardamom Buckwheat Banana Bread
I am the newest fan of buckwheat. Ever since I got a bag to try out from Organic Himalaya, I have been using it to make pancakes, brownies and now, banana bread. I love baking with it as it’s gluten-free and essentially a superfood – buckwheat has a low GI, high in protein and dietary fibre. It also has a slightly nutty taste which I think works really well in cakes!
Super foods to save the day!

Here are some easy-peasy everyday tips to get you started. Pick the one that resonates best with you and start today!
Interesting ingredients at your local market!
I love shopping at the local market. In fact there’s a fabulous one in my hood at Jalan Tua Kong and Raymond, the stall owner is a true connoisseur of local ingredients who takes the time to explain how best to cook it. I’ve made some of best my stir-fries inspired by him!
So next time you go shopping for groceries, why not try the local market instead? Not only is it cheaper and fresher, you may come across some interesting finds that will inspire you to experiment and create new dishes!
Top 10 favourite veggie-friendly Singapore dishes
Lots of people ask me if it’s possible to get vegetarian local food in Singapore. The answer is yes! And you don’t have to limit yourself to veggie hawker stalls only (where too much mock meat is used to substitute protein), you can get great veggie food at almost any hawker centre by being proactive, knowing what goes in the dish and asking them very nicely to omit certain ingredients.
